Although I made sure to select a hometown where colleges are abundant, I rarely had the extra money for paying for unnecessary classes. Still I value education. Indeed, one of the hats I wear is that of teacher. Most often it is as a 'Creative Writing' teacher.
Teaching is one of the best ways to learn a subject. My belief is that I am a far better writer now than when I started teaching Creative Writing in 1997. To teach is to learn. You can quote me on that, I could use the publicity. Ha, ha.
Why? Recently, I've been pursuing the knowledge of self-publishing as an Indie author. My mind is fairly bouncing with terms and details of e-publishing and self-publishing, the how-to's, why-to's and where-to's. I'm thinking this may be my major.
I hope I graduate with honors.
There's always more to learn, isn't there? That's what keeps life interesting.
ReplyDeleteSo true.
DeleteWe should all be lifetime learners. Good post, VJ.
ReplyDeleteWe have access to amazing free educational opportunities on the internet these days. If you haven't already, you should check out http://www.openculture.com/2012/06/a_master_list_of_500_free_courses_from_great_universities.html.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good information!
DeleteYou just have to be a life long learner. Looks like you're in that category. I know you're going to be successful.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I guess if we don't learn, we perish--or is that publish or perish? :)
DeleteI love listening to recorded RWA workshops. Cheaper than an MFA and I can absorb it on my drive to work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying that. I've got some old RWA tapes and now I think I will get them out and play them.
